Product Review...Waste of Money!

Peter Thomas Roth Skinstant Mask Magic

Where do I even  start with this product?  First, let me give you the specifics it is a set of three clinical skin care masks each one 1.7fl. oz. (50 ml) and the total price was $45.00 at Sephora.  The full-size 5fl. oz. (150 ml) is $45.00 individually at Sephora so I figured "what a steal!"...WRONG!

Let's go through each mask, the ways it can be used, the benefits and claims first and then I will get to the reason I feel like each one individually as well as the set as a whole is a complete waste of money.

  • Cucumber Gel Mask-Extreme Detoxifying Hydrator
    • Packaging Description/Ingredients: "this ultra-gentle gel [that] helps sooth, hydrate, and detoxify dry, irritated skin with botanical extracts of cucumber, papaya, chamomile, pineapple, sugar maple, sugarcane, orange, lemon, bilberry and aloe.  Helps reduce under eye puffiness."
    • How to use: This mask should be used for about 10 minutes and can be used cold (refrigerated) or for intensive treatment it can be applied in a thin layer before bed as an overnight treatment.  Recommends 2-3 times a week or daily for extra hydration.
    • My Thoughts: Well, first the smell of this one is very light and I can't describe the scent but it is not cucumber, well not to me.  As far as the mask I have discovered that I do not like gel masks and it does absolutely nothing and I found that it did not really dry the way I like a mask to dry and tighten on the skin.  I used it both normal or room temperature as well as cold and had no difference in my skin either time.  I have had this for a few months and this is the one I have used the most but I wouldn't say it did anything I just do not want to throw it away.

  • Rose Stem Cell-Bio-Repair Gel Mask
    • Packaging Description/Ingredients: "cutting-edge plant biotechnology isolates and replicates the perfect rose stem cells for maximum anti-age repair.  Five rose stem cells are blended with four rose extracts in a cooling, rejuvenating gel to help stimulate cell turnover for younger looking skin"
    • How to use: also a 10 minute mask that can be used as a regular treatment or a cold intensive treatment and can also be used in a thin layer overnight.  And recommends using 2-3 times a week or daily for intensive repair.
    • My Thoughts: Every time I smell this I feel sick to my stomach, I absolutely cannot stand the smell of this one! It smells like children cold medicine and I hate it.  The mask itself is just as effective as the first one if that tells you anything.  I only used this one normal (room temperature) because the smell was so horrendous that I had to stop using it as a whole.  Maybe if used for a long time it will begin to show change but just based on the few weeks I tried it I highly doubt it would work.

  • Pumpkin Enzyme Mask-Enzymatic Dermal Resurfacer
    • Packaging Description/Ingredients: "this powerful and highly effective exfoliating treatment addresses a dull, aging, and congested complexion in three ways: exfoliates with pumpkin enzyme, peels with alpha hydroxy acid, and polishes with aluminum oxide."
    • How to use: This mask is to be gently massaged into the skin and then left on for 3-7 minutes and used 1-2 times per week
    • My Thoughts: Although, I would not repurchase any of these masks this one was definitely my favorite of the three.  The smell is amazing, smells just like pumpkin pie and makes me ready for the holiday's.  When I first apply the mask it does burn but just for the first few seconds, it is a fairly rough exfoliator which you know I love so that is great.  I do not feel like it is worth the money because I already have an exfoliator that I talked about a few months ago here and I think that works wayyyy better.  I even know of some cheap drugstore exfoliators that work great, also even with all the claims all  I realized is that it exfoliates but it did not make my skin feel like a baby's bottom just pretty much normal but that may also be because I exfoliate daily so there may not be much to get rid of.

Have you tried this set or any of the masks individually?  If so, what are your thoughts?
